Each year United Way of the Kearney Area comes together with the Dobytown Kiwanis to provide school supplies to more than 900 hundred area students through the Back-2-School Campaign. Back-2-School Link is a United Way program that collects and distributes school supplies for eligible students from Pre-school through 12th grade in our six-county region.
Several organizations offer their support of the program by purchasing the supplies needed. Dobytown Kiwanis, Noon Kiwanis, Golden K Kiwanis, First United Methodist Church and Good Samaritan Hospital Pediatrics Department have all contributed to the success of this program.
The 2014 Back-2-School will take place on August 4-5 at Kenwood Elementary.
United Way and Dobytown Kiwanis helped distribute nearly 1,100 backpacks to children in 2013.
Monday, August 4 - Volunteers arrive by 6:15 p.m. to help stuff backpacks.
Tuesday, August 5 - Volunteers arrive by 5:45 p.m. to help distribute. Distribution will open from 6-7:30 p.m.
