With help from Minden auctioneer Rusty Rhynalds, the 11th-annual jersey auction attracted a top bid of $1,025 for player No. 5, Dean Burggrabe. Kenny Brooks’ No.13 jersey brought $1,000.

The 27 jerseys sold for an average of $550, and a drawing for an additional jersey netted another $500. 

Money raised March 4 will help jumpstart the Kearney Area United Way’s 2012 campaign. Kearney businessmen Ed Berglund and Dave Chally will chair that effort and replace 2011 campaign chairs Troy Brockmeier and Bob Lammers.

Kearney Area United Way serves 25,000 clients in Buffalo, Kearney, Phelps, Harlan, Franklin and Custer counties.
